Founder, Operation Future Hope:
'Fleur has created a magical world where all of nature is animate and alive and has woven together a story that brilliantly illuminates not only our deep connection with nature but the inseparable link to right relationship and a moral and ethical way of being in the world.'
The Woodland Sprite Series surreptitiously ignites interest in school subjects through the adventures of nature sprites on a mission to stop the Four Winds from losing control of the weather. Finding purpose in protecting Nature and the value of kindness, acceptance and responsibility, Fleur brings her books to life with informal talks to children aged 8 - 11.
Taken by Storm is a beautiful book, and although it is primarily written for children, I loved reading it myself. It is both magical and educational and so relevant to today’s world.

It is such a lovely, clever way to teach children about climate change through a deliciously captivating story.

Fleur is running a reading competition for groups of Key Stage 2 pupils aged 8 to 12 as 'Defenders of The Four Winds', with potential for webcasts shared with parents and schools, winning pupils reading extracts from the Nature Summit held by Titania, Queen of the Fairies, in 'Taken by Storm.'
We invite schools to become our Climate Heros fundraising for projects in their area of interest introduced in The Woodland Sprite Series under the headings listed below, to help those fearing floods or to build new communities using green energy, or towards the Bright Ice Initiative described under
FUND KEY PROJECTS.
Fleur is developing Author Workshops complemented by colouring classes with music for community well-being, bringing generations together to hear inspirational children's stories, share ideas about caring for nature, enjoy cake, and engage with each other through a common purpose.
TAKEN BY STORM, Fleur's first book in The Woodland Sprite Series, explores many formative subjects demonstrating value systems in caring for Nature and each other.
Based in York, with easy access to London, Fleur is available to talk to middle-grade children and their teachers locally and further afield. Her talks are individually tailored to arrive at the level and depth of conversations that schools require. Fleur enjoys laying the groundwork for an interest in a Natural History GCSE, developed through the narrative of her storytelling.
Topics point to symbiotic behaviours, dealing with bullying, addressing natural insecurities, and revealing facts about the true magic hidden in Nature, particularly how trees and plants communicate.
Other topics include:
Nature sprites are concerned by a new train line that has destroyed woodlands and habitats, displacing animals and insects. Following an animal protest in Ray Woods, CHAPTER THIRTEEN sees urban sprites provide a solution of sorts to accommodate them. The conclusion raises awareness of the importance of protecting wildlife in their natural habitats through conservation.
Fleur accurately explains elements of COP26 at the Nature Summit held at The Temple of the Four Winds in her narrative. Stories told by ice sprites facing melting ice in the Arctic and accounts of extreme weather experienced by desert sprites in the Middle East invites concern for others in finding solutions. In conclusion, nature sprites shining their true colours will make rainbows connecting continents, islands, seas, rivers, and lakes, all as one voice, uniting nations through the love of nature. Climate change is a global crisis with far-reaching consequences. S.O.O.T. is committed to combating the causes of climate change through advocacy, education, and promoting sustainable practices and solutions.
Nature sprites join the sun and the rain to make rainbows once they have discovered their true colour to shine. Miss Scaffold teaches Nature sprites how to balance over urban settings, causing concern when she is taken ill as a hazard of her work. Air pollution is a major health hazard and contributes to climate change. S.O.O.T. is dedicated to supporting clean air initiatives and reducing air pollution through advocacy and education.
Sea sprites arriving on The Rainbow Warrior Ship at the Nature Summit tell the assembled crowd that plastic is a master of disguise. Our oceans are essential to life on Earth and are under threat from pollution, overfishing, and climate change. S.O.O.T. is working to protect our oceans through supporting conservation efforts and education.
Nature sprites look for ways to protect the Four Winds from losing control of the weather through no fault of their own. Plastic waste is a major environmental issue affecting our oceans, marine life, and ecosystems, discussed in the narrative during the Nature Summit held by Titania, Queen of the Fairies. CHAPTER TWELVE takes place after the storm when Nature sprites, a leprechaun, a goblin and a pixie prince form a team to protect Nature—having experienced a woodland mouse nearly choking to death from swallowing a plastic toothpaste lid left by campers. They devise solutions to reduce plastic waste, relying upon the power of the collective voice.
THE JOURNEY, Fleur's second book in The Woodland Sprite Series, explores character-building subjects, depicting value systems in caring for Nature and each other. Armed with knowledge, nature sprites demonstrate that setbacks can be transformed to strengthen us as resilient to superficial setbacks.
Topics include:
The Front Cover shows a dream described in the first chapter, where the remarkable work of The Late Professor Stephen Salter is represented as a brilliant way of reflecting nature to reflect the heat away from our planet. The Winds represent DEFRA as uncomfortable that a geoengineering project will interfere with nature while recognising that time is running out to mitigate outcomes. To draw further attention to the issue, a scheme to prevent Arctic melting ice introduced at the Temple of the Winds at Mount Stewart meets receives positive support from the Four Winds, the author supporting the cause in real life, hoping to ignite both response and support from DEFRA on the subject by making a stand, aiming for beneficial outcomes and planetary cooling.

REVIEW: THE JOURNEY By Fleur Rossdale
An eco-journey like no other
The author creates a simple yet surprisingly unpredictable eco fantasy strategically linking telepathy, mycelium, esoteric traditions and so much more.
Along the kind of hero’s journey that the characters traverse they meet up with a number of real life cutting edge scientists whose visionary work (I’ve known all three personally) could actually help reverse the climate and ecological crises whose manifestations challenge the characters as they encounter and overcome one obstacle after another.
It’s the kind of book that introduces both fascinating and critically important facts and themes with skill and subtlety.
Any young - or older - person reading this book would be blessed with so many important questions to ponder and discuss long after the last page of the book is turned over.
Sky, having discovered her true colour to shine and able to join in with other nature sprites to contribute her glow to making rainbows, is on a mission to find her 'voice' and some magic in the mix to help calm the winds. Using crystals, she picks up wavelengths out of thin air and discovers an onslaught of information no different to a bombardment through Social Media and finds ways to protect herself from misinformation and hurtful tweets.
Following the destruction of their homes after the ferocious storm described in 'Taken by Storm', new ones are provided for the sprite community using clean energy, off-grid solar panels fitted to adaptable roofs, wind vortex providing electricity and composting w/c's, reflecting the design of the fairy sprite houses described in The Woodland Sprite Series.
S.O.O.T. is involved in sustainable living projects at home and abroad through education and advocacy for sustainable practices, creating full-size flat-pack module houses through fundraising initiatives, demonstrating sustainable living using clean energy as essential to protecting our planet and ensuring a healthy future.
Hungry for food after the team is blown off course, they learn essential values beyond material wealth during their journey from Cornwall to Mount Stewart by boat, exchanging gifts relating to a bata system.
At a secret meeting called by Titania, Queen of the Fairies, prior to an official assembly at the Temple of the Winds, Sky's team discuss ideas with their queen. Together, they decide that a new generation of industrialists have the opportunity to adapt their position to bring about positive change.
Sprites aim to unite nations through the love of Nature, communities living together in harmony, growing organic food to share, conserving water and composting organic material for community wellbeing.
